Top American runners Meb Keflezighi and Ryan Hall will run the 2010 Boston Marathon on April 19, race sponsor John Hancock Financial announced in a press release.

According to the release, “Keflezighi and Hall have proven themselves as two of the best distance runners of all time. They have the talent and credentials to challenge Boston’s world-class field as they each seek to become the first male American winner since Greg Meyer in 1983. At previous Boston Marathons, each has placed third: Hall in 2009 and Keflezighi in 2006.”

The Boston Globe has an article gushing about the “American Revolution” in road racing. Will there be a similar marathon revolution in Canada? With Regina’s Simon Bairu poised to make his marathon debut in the near future, Hamilton’s Reid Coolsaet back in form and Victoria’s Jon Brown running for Canada, we could see some excitement on the men’s side. Among the Canadian women marathoners, Tara Quinn-Smith is up there with Stephanie Hood and Lioudmila Kortchaguina. And this is jumping the gun, but if Kendra Schaaf eventually moves up to the 42.2, there is more world-class potential for Canada down the road.
