Today is a good news day.
Despite four days of sleep deprivation thanks to a sick daughter, my sneakers welcomed the feet of a changed woman yesterday. When my husband got home at 6pm, I practically bounced out the door into the darkness for my 20K run.
Becky’s top ten reasons to feel good:
– Last night, a senior on an electric scooter passed me and I was okay with it. Man, those things are fast!
– I feel the fittest I have in years
– I ran a negative split on my long run last night (OK, maybe I stopped twice to pee in my first 10K, but I’m taking it)
– Tiger Woods kept quiet about our affair at his press conference.
– Even though I tripped in a pothole at an intersection, caught some serious air and landed on my side… I didn’t sprain an ankle. I wasn’t killed. Only a few people witnessed the horror AND I got up and kept running.
– I’m getting faster. 20K in 2:03 (and I didn’t stop the watch during wipe out or pee breaks) and I felt like I could keep going.
– I now know all the words to Miley Cyrus’ “Party in the USA” – Thank you Running mix #5
– I’m down 2lbs
– I wore my new orthotics around the house… still haven’t run in them, but they look really good with a pantsuit.
– When my trainer said to me “If you want to be a runner you have to do this killer ab routine,” I confidently asserted “Mike, I AM a runner.” He still made me do the routine.
All in all, things are on track. The bum imprint in my couch is growing fainter…
