Wright, Gillis, Pidhoresky win early season road races

Canadians take top places at Harry's Spring Run Off in Toronto, and at Virginia's Monument Avenue 10K.

Some big names from the Canadian running scene took to the roads this weekend to test their early season fitness.

Megan Wright, coming off of a very successful indoor season (including a Canadian indoor record over 5000m), showed her strength with a 33:12 win at the Monument Avenue 10K in Virginia.

Closer to home, Eric Gillis was back for his first race since his outstanding 2:12:08 marathon last Fall. He had a commanding win at Harry’s Spring Run Off in Toronto, covering the hilly 8K course in 24:20. Meanwhile, fresh off of her win at Around the Bay just 6 days before, Dayna Pidhoresky showed no signs of fatigue as she dominated the women’s field with a 27:41 run.

Dayna’s next race will be at the Canadian Half Marathon Championships, in Montreal on April 17th, while Eric will be heading out West for the Vancouver Sun Run on April 18th.
