Pidhoresky’s half marathon not a record: Athletics Canada

Dayna Pidhoresky's 1:11:46 time at the Niagara Falls International half marathon cannot count as the Canadian women's record, says Athletics Canada.

Dayna Pidhoresky’s impressive 1:11:46 time at the Niagara Falls International half marathon cannot count as the Canadian women’s record, according to Athletics Canada.

Officials at Athletics Canada have confirmed that the distance between the start line and finish line in the Niagara Falls course is 57 per cent apart, which is higher than the 50% allotted under the IAAF rule.

“This has also been confirmed from Dayna’s coach, unfortunately this record time can’t be ratified,” an Athletics Canada spokesperson confirmed via email to Canadian Running.

The course, a record of which is available online, lists a climb of 0.1 and a separation of 57 per cent.

The current Canadian record for the women’s half marathon is 1:12:09, set by Tara Quinn-Smith in 2009.
