Want to run the half marathon during the 2012 Ottawa Race Weekend? You may be out of luck.According to an article in the Ottawa Citizen, the half marathon is already sold out, although there are still a few spaces available for charity donations.

The half marathon race is capped at 11,500 runners, with a cost of $75. The race filled to capacity on Tuesday night, race weekend general manager Jim Robinson told the citizen.

“It’s our most popular race,” Robinson told the paper. “Based on the last couple of years, I expected the half marathon (registration) would be ahead of where we were last year. We anticipated it would be sold out one month earlier than last year.”

Still, if you’re willing to raise money for or make a donation to the Ottawa Hospital, the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada or the YMYWCA, you can still register for the half marathon. The donation is $250, but you will also receive a tax receipt of $175.

The marathon has filled about 50 per cent of its 5,500 spaces, and the 10K, with 10,500 spots, is about 57 per cent full. Ottawa Race weekend is May 26-27, 2012. For more information or to register, visit the Ottawa Race Weekend website.
