Live chat replay: Canada’s Olympic marathon party

Read the replay of our live chat during the Olympic marathon

After months of anticipation, it’s finally time for the race our national running community has been waiting for. On Sunday, three marathoners will be in the Canadian spotlight: Dylan Wykes, Reid Coolsaet and Eric Gillis. They’ll be competing in the Olympic marathon in London, chasing a spot in the top 10, as  well as the Canadian record of 2:10:09.

Across Canada, running fans will be gathering around their televisions and computer screens to watch the historic event — the first time since 1996 that Canada has had three men’s marathoners on the startline.

There are marathon viewing parties planned across Canada, at the Mill St. Brew Pub in Ottawa (555 Wellington St.), at Cafe Domestique in Dundas, Ont., and despite the time difference, there’s even a gathering planned at Double D’s Pizza in Vancouver (3512 West 4th Ave.), organized by the Forerunners running store.

If you’re watching the marathon, at home or at a party, tweet us during the race by using hashtag #CanadianRunning and you’ll be in our live chat. Pictures (Twitpics) are encouraged! You can also participate and view the live blog in the window below, starting Sunday at 6 a.m. EST.
