Adidas has had to publicly apologize after sending an insensitively titled email to Monday’s Boston Marathon finishers. 

The subject headline read ““Congrats, you survived the Boston Marathon!” 

Many took to social media with their outrage over the poorly worded email. 

In 2013, two homemade bombs exploded near the finish line, injuring 264 people and killing three spectators. Adidas has been one of the lead sponsors of the Boston Marathon since 1989. A spokesperson for Adidas told the Huffington Post that the company was “incredibly sorry” in their apology, adding that “the Boston Marathon is one of the most inspirational sporting events in the world. Every year we’re reminded of the hope and resiliency of the running community at this event.”
