Suck It Up, Princess

I feel unpatriotic when I complain about our winters… I am fully aware I live in Canada and part of being Canadian is spending six months of the year in the cold… but seriously by the time January rolls around… I’m done with winter… by April I’m soooo over it… because of the sub-zero temperatures today… it was rough to convince myself to run outside… but I did!

Fit After Fifty

No question it sucks getting old… but really does it have to?

The Passing Lane

Tonight I realized what it feels like to “eat someone’s dust”. At the local track a bunch of sprinting teens ran by me like I was standing still (but the sad thing was… I was running too… just obviously not at lightning speed like them). These teens gave me a reality check that I’m old and not so fast after all!

Training to Win!

I’ve always wanted to win medals… so really what is stopping me from becoming the stealth running machine I dream to be? Nothing really… so I’m going for it!

Resolution Run

I’m anti-resolutions… 80% of resolutions are broken… so why bother right? Even though I think resolutions are lame… I like the idea of a run on New Years Eve… so this year I joined hundreds of other runners for a 5K Resolution Run… the best part of the race was running across the finish line with my friend… the Virgin Mary (well this was her first race afterall)!

The Cost of Fashion

This holiday season I learned a valuable life lesson, that runners can’t spend excessive amounts of time in 3″ heals and not expect repercussions… this is why I only dabble in the world as a fashionista and spend a majority of my time in Sketchers or my Saucony running kicks! There is no doubt this was a self-inflicted physical injury… all for the cost of fashion!

Adrenaline trumps sleep

There were 4 in the bed and the little one said… roll over… roll over… so they all rolled over and mommy fell out… so she got up and went for a run!

The Turtle and the Hare

Have you ever been teased by someone and then as retaliation for their torture… state that you could beat them in a race… only to then learn days later that they are an elite athlete? No? Well… that’s pretty much what happened to me this week.

Test of Commitment

Want to know what goes through my mind between 5:30am-5:31am when try to decide on if I should get up to go for a run or stay curled up in my nice cozy bed?

Race Triumphs and Bloopers

I ran my first 10km race on the weekend… you should have saw my face when I realized I ran 2kms more than I had to and went through the finish line in the wrong direction! Seriously these things only happen to me!

Icing is Painful(ly boring)

There is no question… injuries suck… but hey think of it this way… it sort of proves you are an athlete!

The Ultimate Zone-out

No substance possibly has the type of zone-out you can experience on a good run… today I was so engulfed in thought I ran right by my street and didn’t even realize it!
