It’s 100 per cent humidity in Toronto today. Perfect weather for a 4 x 1600m workout this afternoon.

Wow! I have been super busy.  I missed posting a few of my runs from week 9.  Week 9 was a great week for me.  I did my long run on Saturday and it was the best i had felt after a long run I even went out golfing 2 hours later!  For this week-tonight I have an easy 10k with strides and a fast finish.  I have a race on Friday so I did my speedwork Tuesday night.  Monday night it poured rain and I still went out and ran 16km-12 @ marathon pace.  That is how I know I am a real runner-I went out during a rain storm! Fun!

I am a 30 something mom of 2 young children. I have been married for 11 years and am currently staying home to be with my little ones. I love to run! It keeps me balanced and I feel healthy.  When I am not running I enjoy reading and wine!

Everything is going well for us, getting all of our runs in and getting pretty excited to tackle our first marathon!
Just wanted to say hello to everyone and wishing you all GREAT runs this week :)

Live in Moncton, New Brunswick my first passion is my husband (ofcourse)next comes running, sushi and red wine! VERY excited to visit my native province and run my first full Marathon in Sept!!

Wow can’t believe its week 10! I am feeling pretty good, finished 7th at 5peaks race last week and still mananged to get my long run in on Sunday of 35k. My biggest challenge so far is juggling my work, school and finding a babysitter for my son to fit my runs in. So far i’ve been successful, but have been creative and lucky to have supportive family and friends.

I am 29 single mom of an awesome 8 year old boy.  I am a nurse and going to school part time for my BSCN nursing degree. This will be my third marathon.

I love weeks 9-10-11-12 in training for the full as my times have been slightly faster on tempos and longer runs with what seems like the same effort as weeks 5-6-7-8. The intervals which are now up to 1600’s really have an impact for me as have the long runs as they have increased in length. Michal also it is confirmation of your great training guides and the power of our group. Thanks!

What time are people typically running the track workouts? I was doing them at lunch, but as they got longer I couldn’t fit them in. Plus the heat at mid day was awful.

I did the 1600s this week from 8-9pm. A little cooler.

Scotiabank Toronto will be my second marathon. I’ve run recreationally for at least 10 years but only trained consistently for the last year. I’m aiming for a 3:10 to qualify for Boston.

5:30am works best for me in Toronto as it allows be me get to my office for 8:30am. Even though it is relatively cool (22c) I am soaked by the 2nd 1600. One neat thing is how the look of the track changes as the sun rises…somehow makes the repeats easier.

Running, what running!  Recovery from my 24 hour race made for a few days of rest early in the week.  Didn’t run until Thursday, a 5K indoors then did a repeat on Friday just a little longer at 9K.

Sounds like everyone’s doing really well on their training - excellent work!
I also do my runs at 5:30 in the morning to beat the humidity in Ottawa (also so I only have to shower once a day!, and to spend evenings with my kids and wife). I tried a couple of the speed and tempo runs just before lunch but found the heat and humidity too much. Also a big time adjustment on the body as I’ve been doing the 5:30am runs for 3 years now.
Thank you Michal as well for the schedule!

On a different topic, for the race weekend, are there any group activities in the works?
Happy running!

I run to get exercise, to relieve stress, and for the healthy lifestyle. I took up running in 2008.

I will take humidity over smoke any day!! In the interior of BC we are experiencing horrible forest fires. The air quality index here, which goes to 10, hit 12 yesterday. No running outside for me… I woke up this morning and realized that I can no longer keep my windows open in the house. The smoke is stiffling to say the least, I have never seen the likes of it!
