Thousands of Canadians were on course for Monday’s Boston Marathon.

Jacob Puzey and Rachel Hannah led the Canadian contingent both finishing in the top-40. Hannah, the 2015 Pan Am Games bronze medallist, had high hopes of setting a personal best (2:32:09) in her first Boston Marathon before finishing in 2:41:22. Shelley Doucet began in corral two while Christy Lovig was in the elite women’s corral in Boston. Doucet, according to Athletics New Brunswick, set a new provincial record running 2:46:29 (chip time: 2:45:46) for 29th overall. Lovig also broke three hours by a large margin clocking 2:53:41.

Puzey meanwhile is the 50-mile treadmill world record holder. The Calgary resident ran 2:26:57 and was the top Canadian according to runners who listed their citizenship as Canadian on the Boston Athletic Association’s results page. Rejean Chiasson, who ran 2:17:47 in his debut marathon back in 2011, finished in 2:32:04 and John Parrott was 83rd among men in 2:34:30. (It should be noted that although Puzey lists his country as Canada in the B.A.A. system, he is not officially a Canadian citizen.)
