Ready to see incredible medals? Reveal time!

While many Canadian runners are enjoying a mild winter without snow, it’s -50 C in Cross Lake, Man. where our medal artist (Michie) is surrounded by 10-foot snowbanks. Other than shovelling and running on the treadmill, she spends spare time over the winter sketching Maritime Race Weekend medals.

You would think after seven years we’d run out of medal ideas. Truth is, we had so many possibilities that we needed to narrow it down to one theme – 2018 will be nautical. I gave Michie very basic instructions: I need a pirate ship, an anchor and a porthole that can open. Voila, she comes back with these beauties.
