Aaron Brown and Crystal Emmanuel both pulled off doubles yesterday, finishing first in the men’s and women’s 200m finals after also winning their respective 100m finals on Friday at the Athletics Canada Track and Field Championships in Ottawa.

In the men’s race, Brown’s time was 20.17 seconds. Jerome Blake of Kelowna, B.C., racing as a Canadian citizien for the first time (he is originally from Jamaica), was second, in 20.38, and Mobolade Ajomale of Richmond Hill, Ont. was third in 20.62. Andre De Grassewho holds the Canadian record in the 200m (19.80) pulled up short in the semi-final with a possible hamstring re-injury, and did not race in the final. Brendan Rodney, who was fifth, holds the meet record of 19.96. Gavin Smellie did not start in the final, due to having run the semi-final twice after a late false-start call.

In the women’s race, Emmanuel’s time was 22.74 seconds. Aiyanna Stiverne was second, in 22.96, and Leya Buchanan third, in 23.21. Emmanuel holds the Canadian record in this distance, which is 22.50.

In the women’s 400m yesterday, Aiyanna Stiverne was first, with a time of 51.86. Madeline Price was second, in 52.58, and Travia Jones third, in 52.93.

In the men’s 400m, Joshua Cunningham was first, in 46.19. Austin Cole was second, in 46.33, and Philip Osei third, in 46.51.

In the women’s 100m hurdles, Christie Moerman was first, in 13.35, Astrid Nyame second (13.42) and Farah Jacques third (13.46.)

In the men’s 110m hurdles, Jonathan Cabral was first (13.44), Olympic bronze medallist in the decathlon Damian Warner second (13.48), and Joseph Daniels third (13.70).
