Canadian Running and Nike are partnering to inspire the next generation of track athletes and runners through a weekly running and mentorship program.
The one-on-one mentorship program, called Lane 6, is eight-week pilot program aimed at inspiring at-risk Toronto youth, aged 7-18, to get into and develop a passion for running, the most accessible sport in the world. Toronto Community Housing is the third partner in this exciting opportunity.
Here’s where you come in. Canadian Running and Nike are looking for volunteers who want to make a difference in the youth running community. Volunteers and mentors can participate in single or multiple days or the entire program, which begins the second week of April 2018. An initial training program with Nike will be held the first week of April before the mentorship program begins the following week, either on Saturdays or Tuesdays, to be announced soon.
Here’s how to get involved
Date: starting first week of April (training), then mentoring second of April and onwards
Days of week: Saturdays (9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.)
Commitment: Single- or multiple-days, or the entire program, which is held for nine weeks (eight of which will be with youth)
