There’s a reason that Hafþór Björnsson’s character on the hit television series Games of Thrones is named “the Mountain.” The 6’9, 400-pound man is a giant compared to almost anyone, especially his dog.
Björnsson is seen running with Asterix, a 12-week-old Pomeranian, during a recent training session, which the 27-year-old Icelandic declared “the most cardio I’ve done in years.” Pomeranians typically max out at approximately seven pounds. The Icelandic strongman would make even the largest dogs look tiny in comparison.
Björnsson began his career as a basketball player before getting into strength competitions. Considering his size, he was probably more of a centre than an agile point guard.
He’s a three-time bronze medallist at the world’s strongest man competition and is a two-time winner of Europe’s strongest man. He has become popular thanks to a role in Game of Thrones, his first acting appearance, as he plays a character known for his anger and strength.
His diet, which can be seen below, is also eye-popping. Among his routine, he eats eight eggs each morning and consumes more than most thanks to his routine of lifting stones.
