Rio Olympic triathlon champion Gwen Jorgensen is documenting her build towards the 2020 Tokyo Olympics – in the marathon – through a new daily video blog series.

The triathlete-turned marathoner shared the second vlog (video blog) in the YouTube series (see episode one here) on Monday from a Colorado training camp. The American won the triathlon at the 2016 Rio Olympics and has turned her attention to pursing women’s marathon gold in two years time.

Jorgensen shares that she ran 10 miles (16K) in 80 minutes on the day as she continues to build up mileage following her pregnancy. She raced for the first time since giving birth at the Husky Classic in Seattle last week. The 31-year-old ran 15:15.64 for 5,000m, indoors. (That’s a world-class time, it should be noted.)

Typically long-distance runners spend weeks, if not months, at altitude throughout the year in hopes of boosting their endurance. Woodland Park, Colo., where she’s currently situated, is located at 8,500 feet (2,590m) above sea level.

Interestingly, Jorgensen is training without an apparel contract though she is sporting Nike footwear in the video. (She’s been spotted with Nike footwear in another video too.) She has been training with the Nike-backed Bowerman Track Club, which includes 2017 New York City Marathon champion Shalane Flanagan. you enjoy a look into what life is like during my current training camp in Colorado. Olympian Leonard Korir also nonchalantly makes an appearance in the video passing Jorgensen in the opposite direction during the run. (It happens at 1:22 in the video.) Korir is part of the United States Army World Class Athlete Program (WCAP).
