If you didn’t already have enough tech woven into your daily life, OpenAI just launched a service that securely blends your health data with ChatGPT’s artificial intelligence to help you make sense of your own health.

According to OpenAI, over 230 million people globally ask health and wellness-related questions on ChatGPT every week. Everyone’s health information is scattered across portals, apps, wearables, PDFs and medical notes—so it’s hard to see the full picture under one umbrella. So it’s only logical that a computer found a solution.

On Wednesday, OpenAI announced the rollout of ChatGPT Health, which will connect to Apple, MyFitnessPal and several other fitness and health tracking apps to help you understand your health and provide better advice on how to approach your diet or workout routine. ChatGPT Health is built on the foundation and recommendations of more than 260 physicians across 30 different areas of focus.

The innovative service says it is designed to support, not replace, medical care. Instead, it helps users navigate everyday questions and understand health patterns over time, so you can feel more informed and prepared for your training or any medical questions you might have. It also shares connections with AllTrails to help you find your next run, Instacart to help turn AI-generated meal plans into shoppable lists and Peloton for suggested workout classes or guided meditations. Like ChatGPT, it can also suggest personalized workouts or training plans based on your current fitness.

If you’re concerned about a company possessing your health data, OpenAI says ChatGPT Health is built with added protections for sensitive health information and easy-to-use controls. OpenAI has also partnered with b.well, an American digital health company, to adhere to the highest industry standards in data security and privacy. Users can delete chats and information from OpenAI’s systems within 30 days, and the software has trained the health models not to hold personal information from user chats. Health also operates as a separate space (tab) from the standard ChatGPT with enhanced privacy to protect sensitive data.

If you’re interested in testing ChatGPT Health as it becomes available, you can sign up for the waitlist here. OpenAI will test the platform with early users over the next month to learn and refine the experience. All North American residents are eligible to apply for the waitlist. Medical record integrations and some apps are only available in the U.S., and connecting to Apple Health requires iOS.
