New Garmin app to help runners with diabetes

The new Dexcom Connect IQ app allows runners to monitor the blood glucose levels right from their wrist

Garmin launched a new app on Wednesday to help runners and athletes with Type one and Type two Diabetes better manage their health during their activities and throughout the rest of their day. The new Dexcom Connect IQ app allows runners who use the Dexcom G6 Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM) System to see their glucose levels in real-time right on their Garmin smartwatch.

The app can be installed on a wide range of Garmin smartwatches and allows people with diabetes to see their glucose levels, trend direction and 3-hour history right from their wrist. The app also allows runners to keep an eye on their glucose levels and trends during a run, right alongside their performance data.

“Dexcom’s CGM systems have revolutionized how people live with diabetes, and we are thrilled to offer
our customers an even more convenient way to see their glucose levels,” said Dan Bartel, Garmin vice
president of worldwide sales. “Users can not only see which way their glucose levels are trending
without having to take their phone out, but can even do so while working out, when glucose levels have
the potential to fluctuate quickly.”
