The snack: Best breakfast wraps

Are you always rushing out the door in the mornings? Oftentimes, nutrition suffers as a result.

If the above description sounds like you, we’ve got an ideal recipes list. Here are some of the healthiest breakfast wraps out there, so now you can fit that morning run in and refuel the right way– no matter how much of a rush you’re in.

1. Herbed quinoa wrap

Ready in less than 10 minutes, in this breakfast wrap (pictured above) your grains are actually coming from quinoa rather than a tortilla wrap. What is the wrap part then, you may ask? In this recipe, your quinoa, sprouts and avocado are all wrapped up in a thin omelette, just to complete the trifecta of protein, whole grain carbohydrates and healthy fat.

2. Banana wrap

A breakfast wrap doesn’t always have to mean eggs. For a super quick, peanut butter sammy inspired wrap, spread your favourite nut butter on a tortilla, sprinkle some chia or hemp seeds, throw a banana in it and wrap it up.

Spinach and feta are a delicious combo. If you’re a fan of the Starbucks breakfast wraps, but would rather not shell out every morning, use this recipe (by Big Man’s World, pictured left) to make your own copycat version. This recipe’s author is confident that his wraps are in fact, better.

4. Egg white collard wrap

Using collard greens as a wrap instead of a tortilla is a great option for those with gluten sensitivity, or for runners who are trying to cut down on their calories.

5. Egg wrap with avocado and salsa

Making a batch of hard-boiled eggs is a great way to prep ahead for healthy meals. This versatile vegetarian protein can be thrown in wraps like this one, on salads, or eaten solo.

6. Sweet potato black bean breakfast burrito

This recipe’s author recommends making a big batch of these wraps and then freezing them so that you can pull a fruit_wraps1healthy breakfast out whenever you need. There’s no better time saver than that. Each burrito is approximately 300 calories.

7. Fruit tacos with chocolate tortillas

Yes, that’s right CHOCOLATE tortillas. Chances are, you didn’t even know that was a thing… but it sounds pretty good doesn’t it? These tortillas can also be made ahead and stored in the freezer for convenience to save time in the morning.

8.  Chicken-sausage and spinach burritos

These breakfast burritos come in at around 200 calories, 18g of protein and 9g of fibre, which is a pretty darn good way to start off your day. For ultimate easy-peasiness, make them ahead, wrap individually and freeze.

9. 5-minute breakfast burrito

This is the classic egg, cheese and spinach breakfast wrap. Taking only five minutes to make, the time is right for weekday mornings. This one (by The Live-In Kitchener, pictured left) looks so yummy it’s hard to believe it takes so little effort.

10. Breakfast burrito with shrimp

If you thought that seafood was only for the evenings, this recipe will have you thinking again. Shrimp is a low-cal, high protein option and when combined with eggs, avocado and mozzarella, makes for a delicious breakfast on the go.
