In women’s 400m action, Ashlan Best ran 53.59 to finish eighth in the final today. Favourite to win, Hima Das of India, didn’t disappoint and ran a blazing 51.46 to take the win. Das becomes the first-ever Indian to win gold in a track event at the U20 World Championships.

In the men’s 1,500m Kenyan George Manangoi used his fierce kick to out-run Norway’s Jakob Ingebrigtsen. Manangoi finishied in 3:41.71 just ahead of Ingebrigtsen in 3:41.89. Ingebrigtsen has had a breakout season, finishing in fourth at the Prefontaine Classic in what remains the fourth-fastest mile run in the world over the 2018 outdoor season.

In the 3,000m steeplechase Alex Drover ran a personal best of 9:02.97 and qualified on time to the final. The final goes Sunday at 6:45 a.m. EDT. The Kingston, Ont. native reportedly had a goal of either making the final or running a personal best, and he’s been successful on both counts.
