The final is now set and Canada’s Andre De Grasse seems primed for the biggest race of his life.

In one of the toughest semi-final heats, De Grasse impressed with a personal best time of 9.92 finishing second behind Usain Bolt, the pre-race favourite. As such, he guaranteed his spot in the final slated for later in the evening, even before the final heat was run.

While Bolt cruised to victory in his usual comfortable fashion, De Grasse too showed confidence in his performance and even took a second or two before the finish to glance to his right to ensure his place was secure. He now has just over an hour to figure out how to beat Bolt, the world’s fastest man and defending Olympic champion.

Tonight’s 100m final runs at 9:25 p.m. EDT.
