Rob Krar had a homecoming of sorts this past weekend racing in the location where he grew up skiing as a child.
The Canadian ultra and trail running legend raced The North Face Endurance Challenge at The Blue Mountains, Ont. on Saturday. The two-time Western States Endurance Run champion, who currently resides in Flagstaff, Ariz., won the 50K on Saturday in 4:14:55, 10 minutes ahead of the next closest finisher. Rachel Pacquette was the women’s champion in 5:17:49.
The popular trail running series featured a 50-mile, 50K, marathon, half-marathon, 10K, 5K, relay and kids run at the ski resort north of Toronto. The Hamilton native will race the Leadville 100, one of the world’s most prestigious ultra-marathons, in mid-August. Krar’s previous notable results in 2017 include a win at the Arctic Triple 50-Mile in 9:41:56 and a second-place result at the Ultra-Trail Australia 100K on May 18.
Before the race, Krar joined locals on a shakeout run through Blue Mountain village.
I had my eye's (lens) on this man yesterday: @robkrar who did the 50k race in an amazing steady and beautiful to watch pace. It was the North Face Endurance Run, a race I highly recommend since nature and sport spirit are excellent here. Thanks Rob that you left competitors behind so I had the full view of you alone 😜 … … #robkrar #thenorthface #neverstopexploring #thenorthfaceecs #ecson #ultrarunning #running #laufen #thebluemountains #rennen #hardlopen #courier #ultrarunninglife #ultrarunner #endurance #ontario #yourstodiscover #loreeforest #racing #50k #olympus #olympusomdem5markii #mzuiko #mzuiko75300mm #olympusomd #trailandkale
