Under Armour Eastside 10K finishers will receive a race medal in the form of a dog tag on Sept. 16.

The rather unique concept – most races offer traditional circular medals with a ribbon lanyard – features the iconic East Van Cross, which has become one of East Vancouver’s most recognizable icons. This September marks the first year of Under Armour being the race’s title sponsor, a partnership which was announced in March. For participants, that means getting some of the best race gear in the business.

Per the Canada Running Series website, “the medal for the Under Armour Eastside 10K’s fifth anniversary features the East Van cross. Presented in the same unique dog-tag style medal featured in previous years, this year’s medal features another iconic landmark of Vancouver’s Eastside.”

The reveal for both the race “medal” and T-shirt took place at the kick-off event for the September race where to-be pacers got a first-hand look at the course. The standalone 10K begins at Woodward’s Development at the corner of Abbott Street and Cordova Street in Gastown, a national historic site in Vancouver.

The Under Armour Eastside 10K is part of Canada Running Series, a circuit of high quality road races in British Columbia, Ontario and Quebec. CRS notably hosts the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon every October.

Eric Gillis and Leslie Sexton are the defending Eastside 10K champions. Registration is capped at 2,600 participants.
