Canadian middle distance star Melissa Bishop, the reigning world championship silver medallist in the 800m, and Aaron Brown, a two-time world championship bronze medallist in the 4x100m relay, were on hand for the display. The kits were revealed at Nike’s Innovation 2016 event in NYC.

Both Bishop (the Canadian record holder in the women’s 800m) and Brown made the 2012 Olympics for Canada.

Nike has been the provider of Olympic gear for Canadian track and field athletes for many years and has made a splash in terms of technology at past Olympic Games. In 2012, for example, the sportswear giant introduced Flyknit, a lightweight shoe technology.

Many of the participating nations will wear Nike gear for track events including the United States, Brazil, and China. Russian gear was not presented at the innovation summit and as the nation risks being omitted from the Olympic for its participation in country-wide doping.
