Most people know of the common gifts for runners. Socks, shoes, shirts, watches, fuel belts and the list goes on. But other gift ideas, some extravagant and others rare, are less talked about.

The rarely-seen racing flat used in the Nike Breaking2 attempt in May is going for upwards of US$1,799 on eBay as it’s not widely available to the public. On StockX, the last pair, as of Dec. 18, to be sold went for US$1,000.

Though currently only available in select countries, Maurten claims its product is the world’s most carbohydrate-rich sports drink.

One of the most-talked about running products of the year was the Nike Zoom Vaporfly 4%, which claims, backed by a University of Colorado study, to improve running economy by four per cent.
