Japanese sportswear brand Mizuno is doing something unique with the new release of their Wave Rider 26, teaming up with the women’s surfing brand Roxy to design a shoe inspired by the mountains and oceans, and with a passion for protecting the environment.

This is Mizuno’s first collaboration with Roxy, a brand for women who love beach culture and active lifestyles and exemplifying positive energy. Mizuno’s brand slogan, “Reach Beyond,” encourages all athletes and women to go further and chase their dreams.

The collaboration is also strengthened by the two brands’ shared commitment to global environmental preservation; the shoes are made with recycled polyester and plant-derived materials to reduce the environmental impacts of the manufacturing process. “Both brands have held the utmost respect for nature for almost 30 years,” says Michelle Clarke, brand specialist at Mizuno. “Our commitment and passion for protecting the global environment, which is our playground, has persuaded us to come together to develop this shoe.”

The Wave Rider 26 is a running shoe for beginner and intermediate runners that offers excellent comfort to keep you moving forward. The shoe provides both cushioning and stability, with a midsole made of Mizuno’s resilient ENERZY foam combined with the brand’s wave-plate technology. The upper is designed with soft and breathable eco-friendly materials to keep your feet cool and dry.

The Wave Rider 26 Roxy is available in two colours—pink/coral and turquoise, incorporating a stylish surf spirit that will make you want to run from the beach to your favourite park, and back again. The shoe will be available on Mizuno’s online store and at select sporting goods stores across Canada by late March.
