Reigning Olympic triathlon champion Gwen Jorgensen is all-in for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in pursuit of women’s marathon gold.

Racing for the first time since she gave birth to her first child in August 2017, Jorgensen raced the Husky Classic on Friday at the University of Washington in Seattle. Currently without an apparel sponsor, the 31-year-old American had a unique opportunity: wear custom track spikes. Specifically, Jorgensen ran with spikes in support of She Should Run.

According to Jorgensen on Instagram, “She Should Run(‘s) mission is to expand the talent pool of women running for office in the United States and get 250,000 women running by 2030. They’ll provide tools and resources to support you on your journey to elected office and help you carve out your own unique path to leadership.”

Jorgensen, who was an accomplished collegiate runner at the University of Wisconsin before focusing on the three-discipline sport, clocked 15:15.64 for the indoor 5K, a PB of 37 seconds, and at the time the second-fastest women’s time in the world in 2018.

The original spike appears to be the Cosmoracer LD, made by Asics, which formerly sponsored Jorgensen as a triathlete.
