From the roads of Baltimore to breaking the tape in Central Park at the 2022 New York City Marathon, Under Armour’s launch of their new premier carbon racer, the Flow Velociti Elite has been wildly successful for Under Armour. In 2019, the brand signed NCAA champion Sharon Lokedi and promised top-of-the-line footwear development and innovation, setting her up for success and landing the brand its first Abbott World Major Marathon victory.

Designed as a contender to rival the top competitors in the market, the Flow Velociti Elite is for runners who need a balance of flexibility and cushioning in their racing shoes. Every stride in the Velociti Elite is amplified by a full-length carbon-fibre plate sandwiched in a soft midsole foam, which compresses and springs back for added lift and energy return, delivering an explosive take-off.

Upper

In my opinion, Under Armour’s thin WARP 2.0 mesh upper is one of the best racing uppers on the market. The structured overlay pattern with does a great job of securing you to the footbed, while the lacing system and perforated tongue eliminate pressure on your foot. The thin breathable mesh material with a ribbed pattern helps create smoother takeoffs and a comfortable experience all around.

At just 213 grams, the Flow Velociti Elite is incredibly light and responsive, making it an excellent choice for runners looking to improve their speed and agility. The shoe’s 8 mm drop provides a comfortable and natural running experience.

Midsole

The midsole of the Flow Velociti Elite is made from Under Armour’s signature HOVR foam technology, which provides exceptional cushioning and energy return. This foam compresses and rebounds with each stride, delivering a responsive ride that helps you maintain speed and momentum. A full-length carbon fibre plate embedded into the midsole also adds propulsion, resulting in a more efficient and responsive running experience. The carbon plate combined with HOVR foam optimizes performance and helps you maintain a faster pace during your runs.

Outsole

The Flow technology on the outsole eliminates the rubber outsole, creating a more lightweight & seamless ride on any surface. It features a patterned design with multidirectional grooves to enhance traction and grip. Under Armour designed the outsole to withstand the demands of high-mileage running, ensuring that the shoes can endure regular, prolonged use, ensuring a comfortable ride. The Flow Velociti Elite has been my go-to shoe for better grip and control during track workouts and faster efforts on gravel trails.

Verdict

Overall, the Flow Velociti Elite is a superior running shoe from Under Armour and perfect for that 5K to 10K runner looking for a lightweight, responsive and durable racing shoe that can handle the roads, track, or light trails. I found that the cushioning on the Flow Velociti Elite offers support for most distances but is noticeably more comfortable for everyday short to medium efforts. Its unique design, snappy midsole and advanced upper make it a top choice for runners, reaching for that new personal best.
