Why the Stow-N-Go bra is our favourite lounge wear item this spring

What do you wear when the hardest workout is said and done? Here we make the case why this is the BEST athleisure bra we've tested this spring.

 StowNGo

Get in from a long run and the first thing most of us want to do is shed the sweaty layers. As runners, much of the time when we’re looking for sports apparel, we’re thinking of what we want to be wearing during the workouts. What about after? If you’re like most of us, once you’ve put in some honest, hard mileage, you’re going to want to jump in a hot shower, kick back and relax… and chances are, you’re not throwing on jeans, a high push-up bra or restrictive fabrics.

The time period after your hardest workout is when you gravitate towards your comfiest athleisure. That’s exactly what The North Face Stow-N-Go bra is. Upon first look, it’s clear that this sports bra is in the minimal to medium support camp (depending on your bust size) and made with light and moisture-zapping fabrics, it’s also airy and soft to the touch. Ready to chill out with a post-run tea and a book? The Stow-N-Go is probably your most comfortable option in the drawer.

The features

One of the highlight details of this bra is the fabric. This sports bra is not going to feel confining in any way and that’s because it’s made with a thin material, breathable mesh strips, minimal padding and The North Face’s Flashydry fabric. After testing, it became apparent that this model is not going to hold in body heat and it will expel moisture as you work up a sweat.

Because it’s a minimal to medium support bra, we felt that it’s suitable as athleisure apparel or for lower impact workouts like yoga, hiking, strength workouts or climbing. Runners with a smaller bust size may like to wear this one on training runs and will appreciate that this style includes more air-flow than most sports bras.

While we loved the practicality of the construction, there’s one nearly hidden detail that deserves accolades: the tiny pocket sewn into the front. Sports bras with this feature show that the brand has considered a runner’s needs. The pocket is small and tucked away but it’s the perfect place to keep a house key, small change, headphones or a credit card.

The Fit

The Stow-N-Go is one of the most comfortable bras we’ve come across so far this spring. It should feel light and snug, like a second skin. That said, neither the band nor the straps are adjustable meaning that runners need to make sure to get the size right the first time around. Sizing for this one goes according to the more traditional shirt sizes (small, medium, large, extra-large…) as opposed to band/cup size.

Runners should also note that it’s an updated version of your classic racer-back sports bra. We like that there are no uncomfortable or awkward buckles and that the racer-back prevents from strap slippage– one of the most pesky mid-run wardrobe malfunctions.
