ASICS has one thing on its mind with the new Metaride: to make the long run easier and more efficient. Claiming to reduce energy loss at the ankle by 20 per cent, the Metaride, which was developed at ASICS’ institute of sport science in Japan, could revolutionize your long run, and your long races, from the half-marathon through the marathon distance and beyond.

It does this thanks to ASICS’ new Guidesole technology and the Metaride’s curved FlyteFoam Propel outsole, which shifts the runner’s weight forward, making their stride more efficient, thereby significantly improving performance over the long haul. This, combined with the security provided by the heel counter and the shoe’s thick midsole cushioning, results in sustained comfort and performance over long miles on hard surfaces.

Dave Carpenter, managing editor of Canadian Running, found the shoe comfortable, stable, and highly responsive, as you’ll see in the video.
