James Makokis and Anthony Johnson tied the knot during the BMO Vancouver Marathon.

At the 32K mark of the race, the two took a break from running to exchange vows. Then, for the final 10K, they ran the race together as a married couple.

The planned ceremony took place near Beach Avenue before the course winds around Stanley Park via the Seawall. The newlyweds completed Vancouver’s only marathon in 5:30:40. Decked out with technical shirts with tuxedo print plastered across the front, the two received lots of on-course support, during the wedding itself and afterwards.

The back of the shirts read, “We said, ‘I do,’ at 32K.”
