With more than a month to go until the winter holidays, the Santa Claus Parade weaved through the streets of downtown Toronto.

Minutes before the floats passed by, more than a thousand runners, many dressed in holiday-themed attire, ran 5K on Sunday as part of the Holly Jolly Fun Run. The point-to-point race follows the same route as the Santa Claus Parade and finishes at Maple Leaf Square.

Ugly Christmas sweaters (as they’re commonly known), full-on costumes and more-subtle festive gear doubled as running attire on Sunday. The run itself got underway at 11:45 a.m. followed, almost immediately, by the parade.

The Toronto Santa Claus Parade, which attracts hundreds of thousands of attendees every year, first started in 1905 with a single float and celebrates its 113th edition in 2017.

Saed Griffith and Sam Hirons finished with identical winning times of 16:08. Jenna Freeman was the top woman in 18:12. Results here.
