VIDEO: Runners defeat Around the Bay’s brutal heartbreak hill

Watch as runners try to defeat the Around the Bay 30K Road Race's most challenging section

Around the Bay

Around the Bay’s Valley Inn Hill Road is one of the most well-known spots on the race’s 30K course. The uphill section is 500m in length and comes at a challenging point in the race with less than 5K to go.

From Valley Inn Hill Road onwards is about 3K of downhill running to the finish at FirstOntario Centre in downtown Hamilton. Just after the hill is where the grim reaper stakes out, discouraging runners as they pass by a cemetery.

Dayna Pidhoresky (1:49:39) and Haron Kiptoo Sirma (1:35:10) won the ATB 30K on Sunday.
