The Scotiabank Calgary Marathon revealed its finisher medal on Wednesday.
The May 24-27 event unveiled the medal featuring the Scotiabank Saddledome, an indoor arena located at Stampede Park in downtown Calgary which hosts the Calgary Flames, a city landmark that beat out the Centre Street Bridge, the National Music Centre, the Peace Bridge and the Simmons Building. The Saddledome is the centrepiece on the medals for all the Calgary race distances while the city’s skyline can be seen in the background.
The lanyard colours are different for each of the race distances.
Unique to the marathon and 50K medals is that they double as belt buckles too.
The marathon itself goes off May 27 and an estimated 15,000 runners and walkers are expected to participate across all events including the 2K, 5K, 10K, half-marathon, marathon and 50K.
