Every Canadian road and track championship in 2018
See where Canada's top runners will vie for national titles in 2018
Another year, another slate of Canadian championship titles on the line.
Athletics Canada sanctions national championships for each major race distance, on the track and on the roads, each year with events across the country. With 2018 underway, race dates, and locations, are finalized.
Some championships are standalone events while others are run within a greater race itself, like the Canadian 10K Championships, Canadian Half-Marathon Championships and Canadian Marathon Championships. That’s why you see the top Canadian break the tape even though they may not necessarily be the first runner to cross the line. (Many top-tier races attract international athletes, not eligible for placing within Canadian championships.)
A good rule of thumb to follow if you are unsure whether it’s a track championship or road championships is to be aware of the distance styling. A 5K/10K refers to road racing while 5,000m/10,000m refers to track racing.
Below is the list of Athletics Canada’s championships series, in chronological order. (All the races are part of AC’s series but are not necessarily a national championship, like the Harry Jerome Classic, for example.) Note that, as of writing, the Association of Canadian Ultramarathon (ACU) national championships series has not been finalized publicly so races have been excluded.
