It’s only appropriate for a Canadian winter road race with ‘frostbite’ in its name to have snow on event morning.
The Frostbite 5-Miler, held in Lower Sackville, N.S., was Sunday in the Maritimes. The race had a later start time than most road running events as the 5-miler got underway at noon local time on Feb. 18.

Not only were weather conditions snowy, the footing was suspect too as snow accumulated on the course making a PB-performance that much tougher. According to the Weather Network, the average daily temperature for Sunday was -4 C and the area saw 3.2 mm of precipitation.
The 5-mile (8.04K) is a rarely contested event in Canada compared to the 5K and 10K. Matthias Mueller won the men’s race in 27:56 and Paula James was the top woman in 31:51.
