A lesson in premature celebrations
During a Major League Baseball game, one Atlanta Braves fan showed onlookers, and now tens of thousands via social media, the cost of a premature celebration.
At SunTrust Park, the home of the Atlanta Braves, one man went up against “The Freeze,” who was given a 60m head start to cover the width of the warning track in the outfield. The matchup, known as “Beat the Freeze,” produced, according to one of the announcers, the “greatest thing” he’s ever seen.

“The Freeze,” who dresses in a speed suit and wearing ski goggles, has overnight become a social media star as a Bleacher Report writer shared video of the race. Since Friday, the footage has been shared more than 25,000 times on Twitter with 41,000 “likes.”

“It ain’t easy beatin’ the Freezy,” is the bio line of the character’s Twitter profile. One of the Braves’ star players, Brandon Phillips, calls the race his “favourite event at SunTrust Park.”
