We were at the Banff Marathon’s inaugural running over the weekend and snapped a few photos of the gorgeous town and all the runners who came out!
Good job to the organizers for changing the route with little time to spare before the start. The thing everyone was talking about during the run was the start time 10am having runners burn out with the heat in mid afternoon. They should think about next year starting earlier say 7am or 8am. Everyone was burnt to a crisp I know I am. Great job to all the volunteers they were amazing people out there in the heat of day too still smiling and cheering us on to the end.
Parking in Banff for this event also was not available the town was busy without the marathon numbers.
This was my 4th road marathon as I usually run trail but enjoyed it totally. I am running the Inca Trail Marathon in two weeks and wanted to test out my pack on this run worked out pretty good, and there was water, energy products available and toilets along the route many areas along the route. Great support from runners and volunteers amazing…..well done to all…
Lorraine a happy runner
