Quebec’s Leduc makes pro debut
Canadian 100m and 200m record holder Audrey Leduc had a 2024 season to remember, topping it off by inking a professional contract with Adidas. The 2025 New Balance Indoor Grand Prix will be her first race since the deal, marking her professional indoor debut in the women’s 60m. She will face off against Oceanic 100m record holder Zoe Hobbs and world indoor silver medallist Mikiah Brisco of the U.S. in a sprint to achieve the world standard of 7.15 seconds.

Leduc earned a spot on her first Canadian national team at last year’s World Indoor Championships in Glasgow, where she ran her 60m personal best of 7.21. She went on to demolish the Olympic standards in the 100m and 200m later in the season, advancing to the semi-final in both events in Paris.
Kieran Lumb opens season in men’s 1,500m
After a stellar half-marathon debut in his off-season, Vancouver’s Kieran Lumb looks to get back to his bread and butter, the men’s 1,500m event, on Sunday. He will face a stacked field featuring two-time Olympic medallist Grant Fisher of the U.S. and the 2022 1,500m world champion, Jake Wightman, who looks to return to his previous form for the 2025 season. Lumb holds an indoor personal best of 3:36.81, three seconds off the world indoor standard of 3:33.50.

Quebec’s Charles Philibert-Thiboutot will be pacing the men’s 3,000m, which features the young Australian distance running phenom, Cameron Myers, who set a U20 world record in his first career indoor race last week. Philibert-Thiboutot will also be racing in the men’s 5,000m at the Boston University Terrier Classic, held on Saturday across the city. Many other Canadian athletes will also be competing, including Olympians Micha Powell, Simone Plourde and Kate Current.
