While the Boston Marathon has gotten the attention of much of the running community this weekend, one of North America’s largest road races will take centre stage on Sunday morning north of the border. More than 40,000 runners will compete at Sunday’s Vancouver Sun Run, a 10K road race.

Start time: 9 a.m. PDT.

The race begins in Vancouver’s downtown core before heading towards Stanley Park, over the Burrard Street bridge, and back to the downtown area via the Cambie Street bridge. Post-event festivities take place at B.C. Place Stadium.

The 2011 edition of the race had more than 60,000 entrants, making it the largest 10K road race in the world that year, according to the Vancouver Sun.

The men’s and women’s races are expected to be stacked with Olympian Eric Gillis, Canadian women’s marathon record holder Lanni Marchant, and Trevor Hofbauer in the mix. There will be a large contigent of Kenyans on the line as well including Around the Bay 30K winner Paul Kimugul, Willy Kimosop, and Jane Murage.

The race also features top masters runner Catherine Watkins, named Canadian Running‘s Master of the Year for 2015. Those are just a few of the many talented Canadians listed in Sunday’s field.

American Luke Puskedra, who narrowly missed making the U.S. Olympic marathon team, won the men’s event in 2015 and Risper Gesabwa won the women’s race. Gesabwa is in Sunday’s field but Puskedra is not.

According to the CBC, roads will close at 5 a.m. PDT on Sunday morning.
