Sinister7The summer race season may have cooled off a bit, but a few larger events plus several smaller ones can still be used to test your speed, have some fun or as tune-ups for fall training. See RaceGuide for a complete listing of runs and races from across Canada.

Profile: The Sinister 7 inspired by the treacherous Seven Sisters Mountain which looms over the course may prove to be the greatest challenge a runner ever takes. The 100M/161K course can be covered individually by solo runners or as part of a team relay with up to seven members. The course takes participants through some of the most rugged, remote but beautiful terrain in Alberta’s majestic Rocky Mountains and is split into seven stages, each featuring a unique geographic and historic highlight of the area. In addition to an expertly organized and executed event, participants enjoy a pre- and post-race meal, tech tee and “Sinners” medal for their efforts.

Profile: Defi des Dames de Coeur Desjardins is an event dedicated to raise money and awareness for women with heart health issues. The 5K loop course – run twice for the 10K – takes place in the Old Lévis and Desjardins areas of Quebec City. The loop contains rolling hills but no major climbs. Parking is limited but free shuttle service is available from the College de Lévis. Participants enjoy a post-race meal, signature tech tee and finisher’s medal to complement their experience.

Profile: This event has been popular on the Newfoundland race scene for over two decades and is part of the Timex and Toyota Road Race Series. The point-to-point course starts on Mundy Pond Road where participants begin a loop around Mundy Pond before passing the start line and proceeding along a straight stretch to the finish near the Quidi Vidi boathouse. Refreshments and awards then follow.
