Saturday is technically the last day of winter and many in Lethbridge are celebrating the end of the season with an evening run around Indian Battle Park.

The Moonlight Run is a unique and always popular event featuring evening 10K and 6K races that start from Lethbridge city centre and include several loops and out-and-backs in nearby Indian Battle Park. Participants enjoy post-race pizza and refreshments at the end and race swag that includes a specialty long-sleeved sweatshirt and finisher’s medal.

This will be the 29th edition of the event which is the city’s largest running event. Proceeds from the event support the Victoria Park High School Canoe Math Program and the University of Lethbridge Pronghorn Athletics.

A bit further west, Vancouver plays host to the first event of the ever-popular Canada Running Series on Sunday.

The Modo Spring Run-Off takes place entirely within Vancouver’s Stanley Park. The single 8K race starts near the Pavilion and features a spectacular counter-clockwise loop of the Seawall. Participants enjoy the exceptionally organized event, generous race day amenities and fabulous panoramic views of English Bay, the Vancouver Harbour and distant North Shore Mountains. The post-race party offers entertainment, refreshments and awards.

Funds raised by the Modo Spring Run-Off will support Music Heals, which raises money and awareness for musical therapy programs.
