Dates are set for 2022 Diamond League season
The 2022 Diamond League season will run from May to September, with a two-day final in Zurich

The 2021 Wanda Diamond League brought plenty of world-class performances and world records. Now, the 2022 season will start on May 13, touching down in 14 cities across four different continents in the lead-up to the two-day Diamond League final in Zurich on Sept. 7 and 8.
Last year was one of the most exciting Diamond League seasons to date, as Karsten Warholm ran a world record at the Oslo Diamond League before smashing his world record at the Tokyo Olympic Games. We also got to see memorable performances from Jamaican sprinter Elaine Thompson-Herah, Norway’s Jakob Ingebrigtsen and Burundi’s Francine Niyonsaba.
Athletes will compete in their respective events to earn points across 13 meets in the hope of qualifying for a spot in September’s Diamond League final and winning the prestigious Diamond trophy.
The season kicks off in Doha, Qatar on May 13. Then athletes will compete in Birmingham, U.K. eight days later. Birmingham will host the Diamond League stop as a test event for the Commonwealth Games later this summer. Athletes will also get the chance to test out the host venue for the 2022 World Athletics Championships when the league makes a stop in Eugene, Ore., on May 28.
The league will have a one-month break between the end of June and the end of July, as many top athletes will compete at the 2022 World Championships and Commonwealth Games.
After the World Championships end, the Diamond League will resume in China for the first time since 2019. Then the league will head to Europe to finish off the remainder of the season, before the final in September.
The 2022 calendar is tentative and subject to change depending on the global health situation.
