VIDEO: Two pre-race athlete intros from worlds that you won’t want to miss
Devon Allen and Pierre-Ambroise Bosse do their best to entertain viewers during their introductions at the IAAF World Championships in London
For athletes, pre-race introductions are a chance to get a bit of airtime and to show off their personality.
At the 2017 IAAF World Championships, two athletes, Pierre-Ambroise Bosse and Devon Allen, took rather unique approaches when getting introduced to the packed crowd in London as well as those watching online and on TV.
Pierre-Ambroise Bosse
The Frenchman, who runs for Puma, the same company as Usain Bolt, paid tribute to Bolt before the men’s 800m semifinals in London. Starting off with a Bolt pose, he then put his hands to his face to wipe away the tears before bowing down, the same gesture Justin Gatlin did for Bolt on Saturday after the men’s 100m final.
Bosse went on to qualify for the men’s 800m final, set for Aug. 8, running 1:45.63. Canadian Brandon McBride will too be in the two-lap final.

Devon Allen
The American 110m hurdler showed off his creativity before the men’s 110m hurdles semifinals doing the cut-off finger trick. The execution is on point, with one of the videos being shared more than 8,300 times.

Allen, who is also a wide receiver for the University of Oregon football team, ended up missing qualifying for the finals by three-thousandths of a second.
