2014 will be the final year Rick and Dick Hoyt run the Boston Marathon together.

The team has competed in 70 marathons, 31 of them the Boston Marathon. This will be their 32nd. In races Dick Hoyt pushes his son, Rick, who has cerebral palsy, in a special wheelchair through races.

“It’s going to be unbelievable, this is going to be our 32nd Boston Marathon,” Dick told CBS Boston. “Last year we did not go across the finish line. We were stopped at the 25 mile marker. But we will be out there, we will get across it this year. It’s going to be very emotional.”

The team also competes in triathlons and together. In total they have raced over 1,000 events together.

Rick will still compete in the Boston Marathon after this year with someone else pushing him, and the two still plan to race shorter events together in the future, just no more marathons.
