Halifax Road Hammers win Cabot Trail Relay

The Halifax Road Hammers not only defeated the Maine-iacs (again), they also broke their course record

For the second year in a row, the Halifax Road Hammers men’s team celebrated sweet victory over the Maine-iacs (who finished second) at this year’s Cabot Trail Relay in beautiful Cape Breton, NS, and Toronto’s Black Lungs team finished third. The local favourites and defending champions finished the course in 16:10:24, cementing their dominance over the Maine-iacs, who finished in 16:19:18, as well as breaking the Maine-iacs’ course record (set in 2016) of 16:11:38. (Previous to last year, the Maine-iacs had won the race seven years in a row.) The Black Lungs’ time was 16:48:58.

Just like last year, the first all-female team across the finish line was the Halifax Road Hammers women’s team, in 20:59:09, beating their time from last year by two minutes. (The fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh-place finishers were all mixed-gender teams.) The second all-female team was Ontario’s Glory Dames, in 21:21:52, and third was the Maine Road Hags, in 22:28:27.
