‘Tis the season for jingle bell runs, santa runs, and new year’s resolution runs of all kinds, and they’re happening all across Canada right now. It’s a great way to start winter running, if you haven’t done it before–all that cameraderie is infectious. Here’s a brief sampling of seasonal races to get you inspired to brave the cold this holiday season.

East Coast
Scrooges Scramble 5KÂ Christmas Day, December 25 @ 10:30 a.m. Moncton, N.B. Chalk up a race after opening presents and before stuffing the turkey (and yourself). Awards and trophies for first, second and third male and female overall.
Boxing Day Fun Run December 26 @ 10:30 a.m. St. John’s, Nfld. 2K and 4K. This race has been going since 1974.
Resolution Run Running Room hosts Resolution Runs in every province in Canada on either December 30, December 31 or January 1. Click here to find out times and register in your city. East Coast locations include Halifax, Fredericton, Moncton, Saint John, St. John’s and Charlottetown. A RR jacket is included with registration.

Quebec & Ontario
Boxing Day 10-Miler and 4-Mile Run/Walk December 26, 12 noon. Hamilton. This race, run out of the downtown YMCA, dates back to 1920 and always attracts a competitive field.

Hair of the Dog Fun Run January 1, 10:30 a.m. Toronto. 9K run/3K walk along Toronto’s beach boardwalk and lakeshore. Registration includes a hot lunch.

Western Canada
Oh Run All Ye Faithful December 22, 8:30 a.m. Burnaby. Various options from 4.2K to a half-marathon.
