Friday is the first race of the 2023 Diamond League. Doha kicks off the 14-race circuit, with the finale taking place in Eugene, Ore. in September. Andre De Grasse and Aaron Brown are our Canadian representation in the 200m–but beyond the Canadians, there are many exciting match-ups to tune in for. It’s still early season, meaning Doha is always full of surprises.

De Grasse and Brown will face American Fred Kerley, who’s the reigning 100m world champion.

The women’s steeplechase is one of the first steeplechase races of the year. Emma Coburn, 2017 world champion, will face world record holder Beatrice Chepkoech of Kenya. In the women’s 100m, American Sha’Carri Richardson is back and running very well. She’ll face current world leader and 200m reigning world champion Shericka Jackson of Jamaica.

The men’s 3,000m is loaded–two Olympics champs, a world indoor record holder and it’s also 1,500m world champion Timothy Cheruiyot’s 3,000m debut.

And finally, the women’s 1,500m will close out the night, where 3:50 runner Faith Kipyegon is sure to stun the field.
