The European Cross-Country Championships are Sunday and all three Ingebrigtsen brothers are entered

Sunday are the European Cross-Country Championships in Tilburg, Netherlands. All three Ingebringtsen brothers are entered, with Henrik and Filip in the senior race, and Jakob to defend his title in the junior race.

Jakob will race 6.3 kilometres in the junior men’s race, and the senior men will run 10.3 kilometres. Jakob, who’s only 18-years-old, is coming off of an incredible summer season, running a shocking 3:31.18 at the Monaco Diamond League before taking both the 1,500m and 5,000m at the European Championships on the track.

Jakob is the favourite to win the junior boy’s race, but Jake Heyward of Great Britain is also a contender for the title. Heyward is 19 and Britain’s top junior miler. He told Athletics Weekly earlier this week that he has, “unfinished business” at the event. The miler made the team in 2017, but was unable to compete due to illness. Heyward is likely Ingebrigtsen’s biggest competition this weekend.

In the senior men’s race, the two older brothers will face defending champion Kaan Kigen Ozbilen of Kenya and Yemaneberhan and Nekagenet Crippa of Italy. Yemaneberhan Crippa is only 22-years-old and won the 10,000m earlier this year at the European Championships in Berlin.

The event gets underway Sunday morning at 4:45 a.m. EDT with the U20 women. The U20 men run at 5:05 a.m. EDT and the senior men at 8:10 a.m. EDT. Full schedule can be found here
