Johnny Manziel’s wife produces fishy race results

Bre Tiesi-Manziel has found herself in hot water following unfathomable half-marathon splits

Bre Tiesi-Manziel, wife of former CFL player Johnny Manziel, produced some race results in the Run Like a Diva Half-Marathon on February 16 that raised eyebrows. According to Deadspin, she and a friend ran a 1:58:22 in their first half-marathons ever. Tiesi-Manziel is an model and fitness blogger.

The results was first noticed by a Let’s Run forum poster, who was dead on when they commented that her results, “defy logic.”

Tiesi-Manziel came through the second half of the race much faster than the first. Her 6.4 mile split was 1:31:29 at 14:15 minute per mile pace, which is almost nine minute per kilometre pace. She missed her 11 mile split and finished only 27 minutes after her 6.4 mile split. That means that she covered 6.7 miles in 27 minutes, which for context is 2:30 per kilometre and way faster than Eliud Kipchoge’s pace in the world record marathon.

Despite what appears to be a fairly blatant cheating attempt, her Instagram fans have remained pretty loyal through this controversy. A handful of posters have responded to her post-race picture accusing Tiesi-Manziel of cheating, but even with those claims, many commenters are in support of the model.

Some are impressed with her lack of training, and others suggest she could be headed for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Tiesi-Manziel has defended herself via Instagram. According to an Instagram story by the model, she refers to herself as a full-time athlete who trains year round, and anyone who knows her knows she hates cardio. She’s claims that this was a charity event, and she was not looking to achieve a stellar time or cheat in the race.

UPDATE: On March 4, MarathonInvestigation.com reported that race announcer Rudy Novotny had issued a challenge to Tiesi-Manziel that if she ran a 6-minute mile, he would donate $10,000 to the charity of her choice (with conditions). Tiesi-Manziel never responded and has now made her Twitter account private and blocked MarathonInvestigation.com.
