The start line of the Las Vegas Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon has been moved one mile (1.6K) north, race organizers announced recently.

The event, scheduled for Nov. 11-12, announced on Oct. 13 that the start line would be moved with an exact location confirmed two weeks later. The change to the start line location, now in front of the New York-New York Hotel from its previous location outside of Mandalay Bay, comes after the Oct. 1 mass shooting in Las Vegas that left 58 people dead. The start line remains on Las Vegas Blvd.

The marathon’s finish line, in front of the Mirage Hotel, remains unchanged. The marathon and half-marathon kick off at 4:30 p.m. local time on Nov. 12.

Rock ‘n’ Roll statement

“Thank you for your understanding and patience as we have worked to confirm race weekend changes.

After consultation and review with our partners in Las Vegas, we have determined the new start line for the marathon and half marathon will remain on Las Vegas Blvd., but will be moved to the New York-New York Hotel & Casino, approximately one mile north of the previously planned Start Line.

There will be no changes to the start, course and finish of the 10K, and the 5K will remain at the same location as previously planned.

We will continue to update you via email, Facebook, and on our website as we confirm additional details including the final course map and the Toyota Headliner Concert.

Thank you for running with us and your continued support. For those participating in Las Vegas, we are very eager to host you.

#VegasStrong.”
